Abstract

Free association is one of the growing social issues among adolescents in the modern era. Social changes, technological developments, and environmental influences are the main factors influencing adolescent behavior in daily life. Adolescence is a phase of self-discovery, making teenagers prone to the influences of their surroundings, especially peers and social media. This study aims to analyze the causes, impacts, and prevention efforts of free association from educational and social environment perspectives. This study uses a literature review method by examining various scientific sources such as journals, books, and articles related to adolescent social behavior. The results show that a lack of parental supervision, weak character education, the influence of peer groups, and uncontrolled social media use are the primary causes of free association. The resulting impacts include declining academic achievement, moral degradation, psychological disorders, and a loss of direction and purpose in life for adolescents. Therefore, cooperation among families, schools, and communities is required to build adolescent character through moral education, reinforcing religious values, and a positive social environment
